The Unidata Program helps researchers and educators acquire and use earth-related data.
The Data Usage Guide is a flowchart designed to illustrate: 1) the type of data access methods available; and 2) the display capabilities of the Unidata visualization packages for each available data type.
Lightning stroke data is collected by sensor networks owned by Vaisala. The company makes the data available to registered research and educational institutions with several stipulations, including the restriction that the data will not be retransmitted or used in for-profit enterprises.
