We don't get the UNIWISC feed here, since we're not a university. The file I'm trying to ingest is a full-resolution full-disk GOES-16 image (channel 14), downloaded from the AWS noaa-goes16 S3 bucket. We have mcidas-x, and I can use this file directly in mcidas, so what I'm doing is an IMGCOPY to an area file, and copying it to /awips2/data_store/ingest/. In the past I had tried ingesting the netcdf file directly into AWIPS2 with no success. If we can get that to work, we would also ingest channels 2, 7, and 9, and also from GOES-17. After that, we need to ingest Himawari-8 and Meteosat 11 and 9 (we get these from EUMETSAT in HRIT format, and are currently using these elsewhere in geotiff frormat). ________________________________ From: Shay Carter <srcarter@xxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, March 5, 2020 3:15:38 PM To: Devin Eyre Cc: awips2-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [awips2-users] Mcidas AREA format Hi Devin, Can you elaborate a little bit more on what you're trying to do? Are you ingesting mcidas files through the /manual/ directory? Or through an LDM? Also, what type of products are you trying to ingest, specifically? Unidata's AWIPS does currently handle some mcidas area files, if you go to the product browser and open Satellite > UNIWISC all of those subfolders and products are from mcidas area files. Also, sometimes products can show up in the product browser with names that you would not expect. It should still be under Satellite, but it's possible it might be under something like "Unknown-186">"AREA3502" or something of that nature. Let me know if you can answer my first questions and if this helps at all. Thanks. --Shay On Mon, Mar 2, 2020 at 12:52 PM Devin Eyre <Devin.Eyre@xxxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:Devin.Eyre@xxxxxxxxxxxx>> wrote: Has anyone had success ingesting mcidas area files into awips2? I've been able to get them to ingest, but they don't show up in the product browser. _______________________________________________ NOTE: All exchanges posted to Unidata maintained email lists are recorded in the Unidata inquiry tracking system and made publicly available through the web.
