The following announcement is being sent for Tom Whittaker, Chair, Unidata Users Committee
WANTED: Graduate Students interested in making a significant contribution to the Unidata Community The Unidata Users Committee is seeking nominations for a Graduate Student representative to join the group of 9 university faculty members currently serving on this committee. Nominees should be Graduate Students who have completed at least one year of study, use Unidata software, and hold a strong interest in the Unidata program. Nominations may be made by any community members. Self-nominations are acceptable. This position will be for a two-year term. Advantages for the selected student afforded by this opportunity include making numerous professional contacts at Unidata and in the university community at large, professional development resulting from participation in Unidata governance. The committee meets twice a year in Boulder, CO; the selected representative will have all travel and lodging expenses covered by the Unidata Program Center. Please address the following points in the nomination (a short abstract of no more than one page in length): - Your contact information (email, phone) - Student name, institution, and email address - discipline major - Which Unidata software and tools are being utilized by the student or their program - Evidence of interest and/or willingness to engage in community service - Explanation of why the individual is well suited for participation on the committee Please submit nominations by December 31, 2009 to: nominations@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Unidata is a leader in educational software development and data distribution, and this organization relies on input from two governing committees, the Users Committee, which is charged with providing feedback from the user community to Unidata, and the Policy Committee, charged with ensuring that community needs are being met by Unidata.
