Hello Unidata community, We've received some good news from the National Science Foundation: the proposal by the Unidata Users Committee to fund the 2018 Unidata Users Workshop has been funded. If you've been holding off on registration until the workshop was sure to take place, now is the time! The goal of this year's workshop is to raise awareness of the current trends in the academic geoscience community with an emphasis on Data Proximate Analysis, Machine Learning and Data Analytics, Using GOES-16 Data, and Working with Ensemble NWP Output. Scientists and educators from the academic geoscience community will present ideas and techniques for making effective use of geoscience data and share activities, course materials, and ideas for improving education and research. There will be hands-on workshops, a poster session, and time for informal discussions with presenters and Unidata developers. F or more information and to register, see the 2018 Users Workshop web site <https://www.unidata.ucar.edu/events/2018UsersWorkshop/>. *Note:* A limited number of stipends to support attendance at the workshop are available for students and others. See the Registration page <https://www.unidata.ucar.edu/events/2018UsersWorkshop/#reginfo> for additional information. W e hope to see you in Boulder this summer! -- Douglas Dirks Unidata Community Services ddirks@xxxxxxxx <ddirks@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> * 303-497-8657
