Troy Kimmel, a long time resident of Austin and south central Texas, has been forecasting Austin and south central Texas weather, mainly through radio and tv stations, for over 40 years. Troy has always been interested in the weather starting out with his fear of thunder and lightning in elementary school. After being sent to the school library (remember that place? It had books!!) to read up on thunder and lightning, his future was decided. He truly loves the atmosphere and forecasting the weather!

He currently works in Emergency Management as an contract Incident Response Meteorologist for The University of Texas Office of Security and Emergency Management. In addition, he works on a contract basis as an Incident Response Meteorologist for Q2 Stadium/Austin FC Soccer as well as the Office of Emergency Management in the Kyle (TX) Police Department as well as offering meteorological support for Air Side Operations at Austin Bergstrom International Airport. In addition to being presented the designation of Honorary Texas Emergency Manager and Lifetime Achievement Award from the Emergency Management Association of Texas in 2025, he holds the Fellow designation from the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and the AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) certification as well as the TV and Radio Seals of Approval from the National Weather Association. He is a professional FAA licensed drone pilot.

"During my eighty-seven years I have witnessed a whole succession of technological revolutions. But none of them have done away with the need for character in the individual or the ability to think."
- Bernard M. Baruch (US businessman & politician, 1870-1965)

"Lord, we ain't what we oughta be. We ain't what we want to be. We ain't what we gonna be.
But, thank God, we ain't what we was."
- Dr. Martin Luther King (1929-1968), at the end of a 1962 speech, quoted a slave preacher who he said "didn't quite have his grammar right but uttered words of great symbolic profundity."
