Great! Thanks that worked.

Working with a small grib noted below I was able to get all the way to
the NetCDF and view it, so that's looking good. However, when I tried
to run gribtocdl on the real grib obtained from LDM I received several
errors along these lines:

appears some of the files are corrupt, probably missing the 7777
terminations or worst a bug. did a cdl file get created? if so did
gribtonc run on the data. we don't save/get the awips data so a sample of
the data would help.

I have read something in the archives about using dcgrib2, but as an
alternative to dcgrib rather than as an alternative to gribtocdl.

Thanks so much for your help!

Tomislav,

udunits is looking for udunits.dat file. if you set UDUNITS_PATH to the
file location it will solve the problem. ie

% setenv UDUNITS_PATH ~ldm/etc/udunits.dat
