Robert,Not globally, since a separate pqact.conf entry means a separate process being created- and some model data comes in interspersed on several projections at the same time- so it is possible that you would have many instances of decoders running. This is a trade off between the number of processes you want running and the complexity in maintaining separate entries for every different model/grid being processed.
The most recent releases of LDM have now increased the number of streams that pqact can have open (it used to be limited to 32, so every new PIPE and FILE action was potentially closing another one to be reaped- so using fewer decoders at the same time was a big benefit). Now, the limit is determined by the system defined limit (see output of "getconf OPEN_MAX") so seperate lines are not a bad option for maximizing the pqact throughput. Thanks. BTW, do you officially recommend use of separate pqact entries instead of gribkey.tbl?
