8-bit 88D data in GEMPAK

I can not display 8-bit (256 level) 88D data in the GEMPAK programs.NMAP2 dumps core, and GARP just displays a blank map. Is this a knownlimitation in GEMPAK? If so, are there plans to add the ability todisplay this 8-bit data?
