Just trying to follow this thread, but what's the difference between "gpmap"
and "gpmap_gf" and "gpmap_gif"?  Or the difference between "gpfront" and
"gpfront_gf"?

make all
make install
make programs_gf

For a new/clean build:
make everything
will build all executables, _gf and _nc versions.

The programs_gf target will generate the following:
