I have not had any problems with the GOES imagery.  In the file
$GEMTBL/sat/imgtyp.tbl, I have the following entries:

am I the only one here that is having problems with GEMPAK
creating usable images from GOES13 ??
this is the error I am, and have been getting since 18z 14APR

 [IM 1]  No entry in the image type table, imgtyp.tbl, for file
/usr/local/ldm/data/text/sats/raw/EAST-CONUS/4km/IR/IR_20100415_1301
I emailed the NCF they told me to contact the vendor or
replace the
/data/fxa/nationalData/satSpecificInfo.txt
which means nothing to me
so here I am contacting the vendor..
