Pete, I'm using the "NAM 12km Simulated Brightness Temp grib files - grib 218" and i added the entries to the grib table. I added this to the "$GEMTBL/unidata/nex2gini.tbl" SBT122 16 2 K,255,176,163,242;175,0,242.5,330 TICZ99 TMPK SBT123 16 2 K,255,176,163,242;175,0,242.5,330 TICZ99 TMPK SBT124 16 2 K,255,176,163,242;175,0,242.5,330 TICZ99 TMPK SBT125 16 2 K,255,176,163,242;175,0,242.5,330 TICZ99 TMPK then i create the gini file - example "using SBT122 (channel 2) gd2img << EOF GDFILE = test.gem GDATTIM = last GLEVEL = 0 GVCORD = TOPA SCALE = 0 GFUNC = SBT122 PROJ = STR/90;-97;0 GRDAREA = 18.00;-120.00;48.00;-55.00 KXKY = 768;496 CPYFIL = SATFIL = testimg.gini r e EOF gpend then create the map - example gpmap << EOF MAP = 1 GAREA = dset PROJ = sat DEVICE = gif|test.gif|768;496 SATFIL = testimg.gini LUTFIL = PANEL = 0 CLEAR = yes TITLE = 0 TEXT = 0 r e EOF gpend and this plots a nice image...still tweking the proj/garea settings as i just learned this myself so hope this example helps you out.
