Hi Andrew - I am not able to tell if its truly a font or color issue, but 
assuming for a moment it is a font issue, here are the fonts I found I 
always need to install on RHEL6 (I realize you are running CENT OS 6.2) 
through the add/remove software tool - all "ISO8859-x-y" font packages 
where "x" is 9,14 and 15 and "y" is 75 and 100 dpi.   I hope this helps.
