The latest version of IDV (2.8) is available for download at:

New features since the 2.7u2 release include:

   System Changes
     IDV 2.8 requires Java 6 (aka 1.6)
     Use of netCDF 4.1 library
     Data caching

   Display Changes
     Radar cross section display
     New default background image layers
     Globe display improvements

   Data Changes
     Lightning data from native and GEMPAK files
     Ship/Buoy data
     Support for high resolution NEXRAD Level III data

   User Interface Changes
     New icons

   Bug Fixes:
     Spurious Map Lines
     Redrawing of View after exiting Full Screen Mode
