Hi Jeff, yes, I can access the file trough the browser and I have a network proxy. I am also trying to understand how to work it around. But what if we download some of the "static" databases on our machines ?

Why don't you try to access one of the data files directly through your web browser to see if it is a network problem: http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/georesources/worldwind/Data/ WorldWindow.Earth/Placenames/Countries/0000_0000.wwpI just downloaded IDV version 1.2 on my Mac OS X 10.4 laptop and I see that I am not able to connect to any of the data servers, i.e. Worl Wind and others. Do you have hints on how to fix this problem ?If you can access this via your web browser perhaps you have a network proxy? If you do and you cannot work around the proxy get back with us and we'll figure out how to configure a proxy (there is a Java runtime command line way ofdoing this but right now I cannot seem to get it to work). -Jeff
