I suspect those are "raw" count values. If you are getting the data through an ADDE server, then the IDV Chooser will allow you to specify a conversion to brightness temperature. If you are reading the files off your local disk, then you must live with the units that the files were originally copied with.... For probing, you can either use the "Probe" display type (in the Field Selector, look in the Display panel -- you would just "redisplay" your image with the desired probe). Or.....if you have a 3-button mouse, simply hold the center button down while you move over the image and a readout will appear in the upper left of the image.
