Hi Chris.... And welcome to the IDV mailing list! Once you have used the Data Chooser to point at your GRIB file, then in the Field Selector under "3D grid", pick the "Derived" tree and select "Sounding Data....". Pick your times and you're good to go....drag the marker around on the map to change location, use the animation buttons in the "Display control" (where the Skew-T is displayed). Only one word of caution -- since this will cause all the data to be read, you may have a memory issue....if so, then in the Field Selector, lower right panel ick the "Region" tab and make a smaller box (uncheck "use default" then 'drag' the mouse to make the box) _before_ you "Create Display" (which is when the data are read). tom On Sun, Mar 21, 2010 at 9:57 PM, <Chris.Franks@xxxxxxxx> wrote: > Is it possible to create skew-T forecast soundings from model output (grib)? > I was hoping to use IDV to generate soundings from WRF grib files...it > appears possible from the users guide. > > If so, how? > > Thanks, > Chris Franks > NWS Milwaukee/Sullivan > > _______________________________________________ > idvusers mailing list > idvusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > For list information, to unsubscribe, visit: > http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/mailing_lists/ > -- Tom Whittaker University of Wisconsin-Madison Space Science & Engineering Center (SSEC) Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) 1225 W.
