If you know the lat/lon or screen bounds, you can use the <clip> tag: http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/idv/docs/userguide/isl/ImagesAndMovies.htmlI also just use ImageMagick's convert program with the crop tag external to IDV/NCL/xxx.
