Hi Tom,

Here's a passage directly from a report that Russ and I wrote regarding the
radar data.  (Please bear with me in the leading paragraph - I included it only
to get to the definition of "precip product".)

The number of products any given site produces depends upon its operating mode,
which in turn is dependent upon the weather. Weather-dependent parameters
include the number of scans per hour and the number of products generated. Any
given site might produce 6 scans per hour in "clear air" mode, 10 in "precip"
mode, and up to 12 in "storm" mode. Some products are required only when a radar
is in either precip or storm mode, but may be produced otherwise. For the sake
of this discussion, we'll call those products "precip products". 

The NWS plans to provide up to 22 products from each radar site via NOAAPORT. Of
those, 18 will be distributed under the SDUS5* identifier. These are the
products that we are placing under the NEXRAD feed type. 

Of those 18 products, only six products are being distributed at this time. Two
of these six products are precip products. 

Our understanding is that on January 1 a subset of 15 products per site will be
distributed. Of these, six are precip products. ... The other three products are
to be distributed later.
