On Wednesday, January 7th 2004, ITS Network Engineers will perform an 
emergency restart of the distribution switch which handles about ½ of the 
older equipment on campus for network connectivity.  The distribution 
switch restart will take about 10 minutes.  However, if there is a 
problem and the processor needs to be replaced the duration could extend 
up to an hour.  Network services would then be available shortly after 
7:00 A..M.  This emergency restart will effect NIU DeKalb and the remote 
campuses as well.  

While we regret the short notice, this action is being taken to provide 
quality network services to the NIU community.
