Re: [ldm-users] sasquatch.tamu.edu is down

Certain Seagates have a known firmware issue that causes failures like that 
(multiple at the same time, seemingly).  We went through and methodically 
flashed each drive last spring on a Western Scientific/EONstor array.  Our 
neighbors down the hall on the .gov side of the door lost an array that way .

Forget the details (drives affected, versions), but can dig if it's relevant.

I'm blaming it on Murphy.

I had 5 disks in a 16TB san volume controller die today all within 20
minutes of each other - each with different problems too...

Must be in the air...  I know a few other guys who have had bad disc
failures here lately.
