Hmmm. Yes and no. If it were perturbed into a lower orbit, then impacted or detonated, the smaller pieces, with higher surface area, would see increased drag. At geostationary orbit, a large, wee-designed bird has a lower surface area to mass ratio and thus is less likely to deorbit solely due to drag.
