Howdy,

I must be loosing my mind, but I can't resolve what is going on with the GFS Grid 215. What are the proper WMO headers for it?

https://github.com/Unidata/gempak/blob/master/ldm/etc/templates/pqact.gempak_decoders_grid

For the NAM we have:
# Grid #215 20km CONUS: ^[YZ].U.*/mNAM

Okay, good. the 'U' matches here:

http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/docs/on388/appendixa.html Table A.2

But then we have:

# Grid #215 CONUS 20km: ^[YZ].N... KWBC
NGRID ^[LM].N... KWBC
        PIPE dcgrib2 -m 20000 -d data/gempak/logs/dcgrib2_GFS2conus.log
                -e GEMTBL=@GEMTBL@
                data/gempak/model/gfs/YYYYMMDDHH_gfs215.gem

Why 'N' and also, which is right [YZ] or [LM] ?

N should be alaska grid 239?

But as i look on the NGRID ldm feed, I currently see:

NGRID 33630132 YRNC94 KWBC 191200 !grib2/ncep/GFS/#215/201605191200F012/RELH/0 - FRZL

So its using N? Waaaaaaaaaaaaa.....

If somebody can hit me with the clue-by-four, I would be happy again!

daryl
