In the event those that don’t know, NCF Central Operations will be switching server operations from their backup NCF location in WV to their primary NCF location in MD. During the switch, data will be queued but not transmitted until switch is complete. This will affect SBN and Data Delivery. ADM from NCF: The NCF Server Operations will be switched from the Backup AWIPS NCF (BNCF) in Fairmont, WV to the Primary AWIPS NCF (ANCF) in Silver Spring, MD. The switch back is scheduled for Thursday, September 28 and the switch will take place as follows: . Thursday, September 28 0500 UTC - ITO switch to ANCF 1215 UTC - DSUP Switch to ANCF 1315 UTC - MHS Switch to ANCF 1415 UTC - SBN Switch to ANCF 1415 UTC - COLLABORATION switch to ANCF 1415 UTC - Data Delivery switch to ANCF . The switch will not be done on a critical weather day, or if there are other significant operational issues warranting postponement. . All ANCF message distribution (MHS) will be repointed to the BNCF. The switch will take about 20 minutes. Data will queue while the switch is in progress and will be sent once the switch is complete. This will affect data originating at NWS field offices and National Centers on the AWIPS network including radar data. . Repointing of operations back to the ANCF will also take about 20 minutes during which data will be queued. Queued data will be sent when the repointing is complete.
