Users of Unidata services please note: There will be a disruption of service for users of some Unidata managed LDM/IDD and McIDAS ADDE instances this coming Saturday, December 15th, beginning at 8:00 AM MST and lasting up to 6:00 PM MST. This disruption will be similar to the ones experienced on November 10th and December 1st. lead.unidata.ucar.edu (which is also know as hrrr.unidata.ucar.edu) will be unavailable during the entire outage, so sites that use this machine for McIDAS ADDE-served data and the NOAA/GDS HRRR LDM/IDD feed should be aware of the likely interruption to their data processing: - users pointing at lead.unidata.ucar.edu for ADDE served datasets should change to point at adde.ucar.edu. - unfortunately, there is no backup machine for the NOAA/GSD HRRR data relayed by the LDM off of lead.unidata.ucar.edu Also, it is possible (but we believe unlikely) that other services could be affected by Saturday's outage. The services that could be affected are: LDM/IDD: - idd.unidata.ucar.edu users should institute redundant REQUEST(s) or failover to iddb.unidata.ucar.edu McIDAS ADDE: - motherlode.unidata.ucar.edu users should point their ADDE requests to adde.ucar.edu are routed to different machines as the need arises TDS: - a separate notice has already been sent to TDS users The following is the internal NCAR/UCAR notice that we received about the upcoming outage: "SCHEDULED OUTAGE NOTIFICATION PURPOSE: Continuing construction activities for replacement of the FL2 life safety emergency generator. All utility power to FL2 will be disconnected on Saturday morning, December 15th, 8AM - 6PM. Heating, cooling, controls and other critical systems in FL0, 1, & 3 will also be affected by the outage. The FL0, 1, 2, & 3 buildings will be closed to all personnel not directly involved in the work on Saturday December 15. WHEN: Power to FL2 building will be shut off at 8am on Saturday, December 15. Power is expected to be restored to FL2 by 6pm on Saturday, December 15. Prior to 8am, multiple facility, computing, and communication systems, affecting FL0, 1, 2, & 3, will be powered down. IMPACT: FL0, 1, 2 & 3 will be closed to all personnel not directly involved in the work on Saturday, December 15 from approximately 7am until power has been restored and all critical systems have been verified operational. ACTION: Occupants of FL2 are advised to power off office computers and other sensitive electronic equipment prior to leaving work on Friday December 14th. Utility power to FL0, FL1 and FL3 will not be directly affected by the outage, however critical life safety and building control systems will be down throughout the campus.
