Hi Gilbert, Hopefully somebody chimes in with an authoritative answer as I have wondered this too. I thought that HDS feedtype products starting in I or J were BUFR, but has I check this, that is not fully the case as some of the products appear to be HDF. Googling around, I found this interesting 2019 AMS slide deck https://ams.confex.com/ams/2019Annual/webprogram/Handout/Paper351353/Pauley_AMS2019_TAC2BUFR_Surface_and_Radiosonde_Data_16x9_for_pdf.pdf Perhaps the BUFR products are more fun than we can imagine!
