Hi Gilbert, Hopefully somebody chimes in with an authoritative answer as I have wondered this too. I thought that HDS feedtype products starting in I or J were BUFR, but has I check this, that is not fully the case as some of the products appear to be HDF. Googling around, I found this interesting 2019 AMS slide deck https://ams.confex.com/ams/2019Annual/webprogram/Handout/Paper351353/Pauley_AMS2019_TAC2BUFR_Surface_and_Radiosonde_Data_16x9_for_pdf.pdf Perhaps the BUFR products are more fun than we can imagine! I suppose it can't be worse than the current METAR/SYNOP feeds. :) daryl -- /** * daryl herzmann * Systems Analyst III -- Iowa Environmental Mesonet * https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu */ ________________________________________ From: ldm-users-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <ldm-users-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> on behalf of Gilbert Sebenste <gilbert@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, May 3, 2019 2:25 AM To: LDM Subject: [ldm-users] Surface/upper air data in BUFR format...WMO headers? Hello everyone, I was looking all over the Interwebs and asking around...does anyone know what the WMO headers are for surface/upper air data in BUFR format, US and global? Any documents showing what they are, or if you have them already and are using them, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help, and I hope you're staying dry if you are in the central U.S.! Gilbert -- ---- Gilbert Sebenste Consulting Meteorologist AllisonHouse, LLC
