Hi Kjell:

IOSP = "I/O Service Provider" is the layer netcdf-java library uses to read 
non-netcdf files.
See section 4 of 
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/netcdf-java/tutorial/index.html.

Codar seems to be a text format?
