Re: [netcdf-java] Reading a CDL file

Gabriel Mateescu wrote:
Hi,

Is it possible to read a CDL file in netcdf-java 4.0.41?

When I try to open a cdl file with NetcdfFile.open()

     NetcdfFile ncfile = null;
     try {
            ncfile = NetcdfFile.open(fileName);
      }
      ....

I get the exception "not a valid NetCDF file" in
 ucar.nc2.NetcdfFile.open(NetcdfFile.java:716)

Thank you.
Gabriel

Hi Gabriel:

A CDL usually means one written in ascii CDL, which must be translated to a binary netcdf file with ncgen. netcdf-java cannot read these. If its actually a binary file, then its probably damaged.
