Hi John,

Here - http://forum.worldwindcentral.com/showthread.php?t=31704 , is the full 
thread on the worldwind forums, the first post uses pure java. I have the 
benchmark project on a bitbucket private repo. I can publicise it if you want. 
There is something odd going on with packed data and the compare NetCDF code 
(offset and multipliers are not used in comparison).
