NetCDF supports NC_LONG between -2147483648 and 2147483647, but according to Kernighan & Ritchie, 2nd edition on ANSI standards, p.257 at section B11, Implementation-defined limits, we have LONG_MIN as -2147483647. Can the use of -2147483648 for missing value in netCDF file create problems on some machine?
