US billion (Was: Suggested new units for udunits.dat)

X-sub: B.Bretthauer@xxxxxx

>> billion P 1.0e9
>> trillion P 1.0e12

>Don't the British use `billion' to mean 1.0e12 (i.e. isn't the British
>`billion' the USA's `trillion')?

The US billion is the german "Milliarde", while the US trillion is the german
"Billionen". This is alway a problem if reading translations from US
articles: You never now if the translator changed billions to Milliarde.

Don't know about the british meanings.
