Greetings, Version 1.9 of the Unidata units package, UDUNITS, is now available. This package provides a stand-alone, data abstraction library for the manipulation of units of measurement by application programs. In particular, the udunits(3) library is a de facto standard for the handling of `units' attributes in netCDF datasets. New in this release of UDUNITS is a perl 5 extension module. This should nicely complement the previously released perl 5 extension module for the netCDF package. The UDUNITS package can be obtained via the following URL's: Source: ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/udunits/udunits.tar.Z (Please see the file README for installation instructions.) Binary: ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/binary/ (See the file README for instructions on obtaining a binary distribution for your system. NOTE: The the perl extension does not come with the binary distribution.) There is a Web page for the UDUNITS package that contains additional information (e.g. release notes, manual pages, installation instructions, known problems). Its URL is http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/packages/udunits/ If you have a problem with the package, then please consult the UDUNITS email archives first to see if a solution already exists. The archives are available via URL Look under the `netCDF' email archives and use the word `UDUNITS' in your search pattern. Regards, Steve Emmerson support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
