Storing Polygon Information

Can anyone recommend a convention or method of storing polygonalinformation in a NetCDF file? The polygons may not have an equal numberof points. They could be triangles, rectangles, octagons, whatever. Ijust can't think of any efficient means of storing this kind ofinformation. Any ideas or opinions?
