Hi Ian,

You have not specified to include the netcdf library on this line so the linker cannot find the nf_* symbols.

If you have tried:

 f77 -o simple_xy_wr simple_xy_wr.f /path/to/netcdflib/libnetcdf.a

You've cracked it! That worked first time :-)
