Hi Ed, I've updated to hdf5-1.8.4 and the netcdf daily snapshot netcdf-4.1-snapshot2010011908 I now get a different error, but it also occurs in the same file. (The program does several reads of netcdf3 format files, and writes of netcdf4 format files, before trying to do this read of a netcdf4 format file.) 1: pio_support::pio_die:: myrank= 1 : ERROR: ionf_mod.F90: 182 : NetCDF: Memory allocation (malloc) failure I'll try the --enable-logging flag next, but it seems like this error is coming from netcdf itself.
