Could you provide more info on this?  Is there s specific page somewhere in the 
docs about this topic specifically?

Also, the URL in the release notes for the SVN seems to be incorrect (404...), 
http://svn.unidata.ucar.edu/netcdf.  Maybe it should be:
http://svn.unidata.ucar.edu/repos/netcdf/
