[noaaport] New NOAAport DVB-S2 update (Very important!)

Note: I cannot find the Novra S-300 anywhere on Novra's website, or anywhere on the Web. I'm contacting my Novra contact about this S-300.
The Novra S-200 will not work for the new broadcast. D'oh!!!

Gilbert

Gilbert,
I just received the following information regarding the SBN Expansion
project:

/The AWIPS Program has selected the following Receiver for the SBN / NOAAPort Expansion project:* Novra S-300 (Enhanced DVB-S2 Receiver)*. We will be implementing a single data stream that will require variable coding modulation (*VCM*) over multi-protocol encapsulation (*MPE*) which is supported by the Novra S-300 receiver. We understand that one or more other models of DVB-S2 Receivers also may be suitable.

Attached is our DVB-S2 Receiver Specification sheet.

(Gilbert's note: see http://weather.admin.niu.edu/s300.pdf for the attachment.)

You will need to upgrade to a receiver that supports VCM (like the Novra *S-300)*. The S-200 does not support VCM!

Thanks,
-Jami
