These preinstallation steps listed by Emmerson are what you need to do... I can 
confirm that they work with the latest Debian, but have not tried on Ubuntu...

Are you guys using the latest Novra firmware? We're using the R2V7 version, and we see don't see those errors from it...

Also, what is your signal strength and C/N? NWS says C/N needs
to be 17 or higher as their standard. When pointing the dish, peak for
C/N, not signal strength, and yes, there is a slightly lower signal
that results when you do it this way, but it is still very strong.
