19990629: GOES-10 MOON SHADOW DATA OUTAGE JULY 12 - Issued 6/29/99 (fwd)

NOTE: The nws-changes mailing list is no longer active. The list archives are made available for historical reasons.

The following information was received today from the NESDIS Satellite
Operations Control Center (SOCC):

GOES-10 will have a data outage on July 12 from 1715 to 1829Z, due
to a lunar shadow. This will require that the Imager and Sounder be turned
off like we do for eclipse. The 1701Z Asos1 sounding will be shortened by 3
mins. GOES-8 will provide full disk scans from 1715 to 1844Z to cover the
GOES-10 outage.
