Date/Time of Initial Impact: August 30, 2003

Details:

The following information was received from NESDIS/OSO/SOCC. Note
possible degradation in GOES-9 images from 1225 UTC to 1625 UTC on
August 30, 2003 and in GOES-12 images from 0415 UTC to 0825 UTC on
august 31, 2003:

GOES-9 Imager Patch Temperature will be changed from MID (101.0K to LOW
(94.0K) on August 30 at approximately 1225Z. Images taken during the
1225-1625Z time period will show mild to moderate "Venetian Blinding".
Images should return to normal after the temperature is constant at
94.0K for two hours.

GOES-12 Imager Patch Temperature will be changed from MID (98.9K) to LOW

(90.9K) on August 31 at approximately 0415Z. Images taken during the
0415-0825Z time period will show mild to moderate "Venetian Blinding".
Images should return to normal after the temperature is constant at
90.9K for two hours.
