Topic: GOES-10 Imager Patch Temperature Change and MBCC turned off Message Issued: March 8, 2004, 1740 UTC Satellites Impacted: GOES-10 Products Impacted: GOES-10 Imager and Data Date/Time of Initial Impact: March 9, 2004 0815 UTC ----------------------------------------- Details: ** Please note that the MBCC will also be turned off at the time of the patch temperature change and will stay off for 2 days. MBCC will be turned "ON" on DOY 71 (March 11, 2004) at 15:50z. ** -------------------------------------- On March 9, 2004 , SOCC Engineers will change the GOES-10 Imager patch temperature from its MID set point (101 K) to its LOW setpoint (94 K) at about 08:15 UTC (03:15 ET). The change will be done during keep out zone time and prior to eclipse to minimize the impact on users. The temperature transition will take approximately 4 hours. The users may see slight data degradation (venetian blinding) in the first few frames after the eclipse (10:15-10:22 UTC and 10:45-10:52 UTC) until the patch temperature stabilizes at its new setpoint. The signal to noise ratio will improve as a result of operation at a lower patch (detector) temperature. The patch will be controlled at this temperature (94 K) until October 2004 when it will be switched back to MID setting during the autumn eclipse/KOZ season. --------------------------------------- Contact Information: Brian Hughes Satellite Services Division NOAA/NESDIS/OSDPD 301-763-8051 x106 brian.hughes@xxxxxxxx See http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/SATS/messages.html for this and other satellite related messages.
