PLEASE PASS TO MIC, HIC, ESA, ITO, AND SOO ~ THE FOLLOWING NOTIFICATION HAS BEEN PROVIDED BY THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS OPERATIONS CENTER CONCERNING UPCOMING ROUTER MAINTENANCE. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT WILL NOT IMPACT AWIPS SBN RADAR DATA, BUT WILL AFFECT RADAR MULTICAST CUSTOMERS. ~ On Monday, June14, 2004 at 7:15am EST (11:15 UTC) we will replace a card on the Telecommunication Operations Center (TOC) secure router (NWS Washington, DC). We scheduled an outage of 30 minutes, but we hope the actual downtime will be less. The affected router is located inside the TOC firewall. All data flowing through our secure router will be affected. This includes direct connections to our secure router, such as, NCEP Nesdis DATMS-U GTS links Radar multicast SAS customers Although connections to our regional and non-secure router are not affected, no data will be available to our public FTP and web servers during this period. If the scheduled date is designated a Critical Weather Day, the outage will be postponed. The purpose of the outage is to test a replacement for a defective card. We apologize for any inconvenience that this outage may cause. Please contact me if the timing of this outage presents a critical problem for your operations. Please forward this message to anyone who will be affected by this action but was left off the mailing list. I would appreciate if you would send me the email address of anyone that should be informed of scheduled downtime in the future, but was not included in the current list.
