SUBJECT:             Changes to the NWS Production Suite
1. The new Central Computer System (Mist/Dew) is expected to become operational on Tuesday, 23 January. Users will continue to have access to the current system (Blue/White) until Wednesday, 31 January, NOT 14 February as indicated in last week's memo. All data remaining on White/Blue after that date will be lost. Fail over testing of Computer operations between Mist and Dew will be performed through 19 January. There may be periods of interruption in service as this testing takes place. 2. The announcement of the availability of the Replacement Telecommunications Gateway (RTG) http://www.weather.gov/dm-cgi-bin/chgshow.pl?fn=DM12-06.01.txt was intended for the Family of Service customers only. Access to the old ftp server will be terminated at 12Z Wednesday, 17 January. The six month period for parallel GRIB1 and GRIB2 access will begin shortly after this date. NCEP/NCO has public web resources available to aid users through this transition period.
