SUBJECT: Change of the Name of the Hydrometeorological
         Prediction Center to Weather Prediction Center
         Effective March 5, 2013

Effective March 5, 2013, the NCEP Hydrometeorological Prediction
Center (HPC) will be known as the Weather Prediction Center
(WPC). There will be no changes to the HPC product suite due to
this change and all AWIPS and WMO headers will remain the same.

The URL of the Website will change from

http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/

to

http://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/

All current links to HPC will lead to the same pages for at
least 6 months.

The new name captures the breadth of products and services
produced by the center. There has been broad support for the
name change by center employees, users of the centers products
and services, the employees organization, NOAA leadership, the
academic community, the private sector, and other stakeholders.
