Re: THREDDS and OPeNDAP

The THREDDS people will probably give you a more complete answer, but based on what I know: 

1. TDS does not use Hyrax - it is 100% java and use the nj22 code.
2. If you are using the OPeNDAP DRDS to connect to data bases, TDS does not do that.
3. We have netcdf files of all kinds - and there has been no problem of serving in the one or the other server. TDS does provide aggregation and the ability to append metadata through NcML. 

4.  Based on experience from others, GRIB data works just fine also.

5. On the client side, it should make no difference.

Has anyone done any extensive testing on the compatibilities between THREDDS OPeNDAP server and the OPeNDAP servers themselves? I'm trying to gauge if it is possible to replace our OPeNDAP server with THREDDS, and then, maybe bring down the old OPeNDAP servers. I'm in the process of going through some of the clients listed on the opendap site. Lastly, does the THREDDS OPeNDAP server uses Hyrax (Server 4)?
