Note that theres also a "conduit" dataset that has more variables, but fewer pressure levels. Compare the 2 at:

Hi All,The Conus 12km - noaaport seems to work when requesting a NetCDF subset of Grid data as Point. There is only a single pressure level, however, and therefore one line of data returned.http://motherlode.ucar.edu:8080/thredds/ncss/grid/fmrc/NCEP/NAM/CONUS_12km/NCEP-NAM-CONUS_12km-noaaport_best.ncd?var=Geopotential_height&var=U-component_of_wind&var=V-component_of_wind&latitude=46.2&longitude=-122.18&time_start=2008-03-17T18%3A00%3A00Z&time_end=2008-03-29T00%3A00%3A00Z&temporal=point&time=2008-03-25T12%3A00%3A00Z&vertCoord=&accept=csv&point=trueWhen using a similar query for the Alaska 11km model there is more data returned. (more pressure levels)http://motherlode.ucar.edu:8080/thredds/ncss/grid/fmrc/NCEP/NAM/Alaska_11km/NCEP-NAM-Alaska_11km_best.ncd?var=Geopotential_height&var=U-component_of_wind&var=V-component_of_wind&latitude=57&longitude=-157&time_start=2008-03-01T06%3A00%3A00Z&time_end=2008-03-29T00%3A00%3A00Z&temporal=point&time=2008-03-25T12%3A00%3A00Z&vertCoord=&accept=csv&point=trueThese two queries used to yield very similar results, but now it looks like the Web form for the new CONUS 12km has a different layout. Are these changes permanent, or are there still troubles with the CONUS 12k Dataset? I have scripts that take a list of pressure levels, wind speed, and wind direction for a vertical slice at a single coordinate and interpolate the values to create input data for a model program that we run on a daily basis. Those work great for the Alaska 11 km model, but not the CONUS 12km model. Thanks! Usually the conduit model is a superset of the noaaport model, but this is not the case this time. The pressure levels are missing from the conduit model, this is the problem and I don't know why. I started storing the noaaport models yesterday, so there are only 2 days worth of files but they do have the pressure levels and I believe your query will now work. On the NAM models page, select the CONUS_12 - noaaport for your query.RObb... -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [thredds] CONUS 12KM data question Date: Fri, 7 Mar 2008 11:55:25 -0800 From: Robert Wardwell <rwardwell@xxxxxxxx> To: John Caron <caron@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> CC: <thredds@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>References: <002001c87960$fb7bb930$0f987682@xxxxxxxxxx> <47C59A5C.9060103@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>Hi John, It looks like the Conus NAM 12Km is producing a dataset now, but itdoesn't seem quite right. Its still not exactly right (some new fields and levels are being sent) but we should have it sorted out by tommorrow. If you see any further problems after that, please let us know.BTW, Ive added you to the thredds mailing list. The last few weeks, however, I have only been able to acess the data sporadically. Some days it works and some days I receive the error messages. I also noticed that the problem seems limited to the CONUS_12KM model. All of the other models I've tried seem to work fine. I am not sure if there is a problem with my request or a problem with data availability. Any thoughts you have on the matter would be greatly appreciated.Sincerely, Rob Wardwell USGS - Cascades Volcano Observatory 1300 Se Cardinal Ct.
