After a little more searching, found the documentation reference: http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/netcdf/ncml/v2.2/Aggregation.htmlLooks like global attributes from a Union of NetCDF files would come from the first file.
'All the other variables, dimensions, and attributes are taken from the first file that declares them.'
