Hi Jay, Very sorry for my slow reply to this. I had a feeling I'd replied, but now can find no evidence of having done so... :-( Anyway, if you hadn't guessed already, the off-scale colour can't currently be customized except by editing the code, sorry. We have a to-do for ncWMS to enable this, maybe when this is done it will percolate to THREDDS. I can't promise it'll be quick though! It seems the default is black. This does not seem to be the same as the background color, which is transparent (using transparent=true).
