if you can run toolsui with access to the data, put the collection spec , eg

/data1/HFRadar/RTV/USWC/**/#yyyyMMddHHmm#_HFRadar_USWC_6km_rtv_SIO.nc$
into the Fmrc/Fmrc tab (doesnt matter if its an fmrc). then hit the second info button ("show collection parsing info").
you should get a popup window with some diagnostics, cut and paste them in an email to me and well try to figure out whats happening.

The ** after the USWC chooses all directories. I didn't try any regular expressions, since it doesn't seem like this supports traditional regex, but your should be able to get wildcards in the directory path. Also, I say sorta above because it's not working for me anymore. I think because there are too many files in the directory and TDS chokes.
