Hi Eugene, In theory, a ScalarMap to Display.Shape should allow you to do this, where you set a sequence of shapes (VisADGeometryArrays) of different sizes in the ShapeControl. However, Display.Shape is currently not implemented and there is no chance I'll be able to do it before I leave for the UK. So, VisAD will eventually be able to do what you want, but not for a while.
