I was able to run P3_09 without any Exception.  Please download
a new copy of P3_09.java from:

  http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/~billh/tutorial/s3/P3_09.java

then compile it with:

  javac -g P3_09.java

and run it with:

  java P3_09

Please do not modify it in any way.  Let me know if the
unmodified version throws an Exception.
